Alt-rockers Mush have dropped their impressive new single ‘Clarion Call’. The track’s opening seconds are defined by a guitar riff that isn’t afraid to wander away from standard rhythms and tonality, before lead vocalist Daniel Hyndman takes the reigns with his distinctive voice. Influence from leftfield artists like Primus and Talking Heads comes through, but the band still maintain their unique style, especially as they wander into their heavier moments. “It’s one that nearly snuck onto Lines Redacted and the last tune [late guitarist Steven Tyson] had a hand in writing some of the guitars. Can’t remember what it’s about to be honest just like the phrase. Nice little tune though.” Mush are touring the UK and France in October and November this year. -Dan Peeke
